SOLDIER FEELINGS

WRITER AND DIRECTOR

OPPENING APRIL 2016

Soldier Feelings is an artistic project that involves performance, music and art installation in a sensorial experience for the audience, who are witnesses to the atrocities committed during the Dictatorship in Chile around the 70's and 80's. The project is structured in two parts; both are based on the recent history of Chile and the relation that existed between Chile and the U.S during the Chilean Dictatorship (1973-1990). Part One will explore the life of the Chilean ex-torturer Alvaro Corbalán, who was the director of the Secret Security Service (CNI) in Chile during the 80’s and also a lover of the Chilean nightlife and arts. The set will be a Miami cabaret, a dystopia, where Corbalán is the showman, who remembers his life through music. The second part will be an informative piece, where two performers, one from Chile and one from the U.S., will analyze the relation between these two countries during the Cold War and the influence of the U.S. during the Chilean dictatorship. The objective of this part is to expose the inability to find the truth about one of the darkest periods of Chilean history. Both parts are executed simultaneously, and the audience will see the piece only from one perspective.
